The Pilates method
Pilates is a physical fitness system that was developed from the 1920s onwards by Joseph H. Pilates and his wife, Clara. Originally called ‘Contrology’, It was designed to strengthen, tone and balance muscles, improve posture through whole body alignment, and increase co-ordination, flexibility and mobility. Pilates aims to achieve the goal of whole-body health by harmonising the mind and body.
